Crafted by Fender Japan in 2002, this Bruce Springsteen “Born to Run” Esquire is an exceptional tribute to one of rock and roll’s most iconic guitars. Meticulously upgraded to mirror the specifications and character of Springsteen’s guitar, this instrument captures the spirit and authenticity of “The Boss”.
Among its standout features are vintage Schaller tuners (Made in West Germany), genuine 1972-dated Stackpole volume and tone pots, an Oak Grigsby pickup selector switch, a Cornell Dubilier tone capacitor, and an original Dakaware switch tip. The guitar also features the distinctive leather “Man Under a Street Light” pick guard, titanium Telecaster bridge saddles (like the kind Dr. Petillo made for his), an additional round string guide, and the extra jack hole faithfully covered with a neck plate—just like Bruce’s original guitar.
Adding to its incredible attention to detail is the concho black leather guitar strap complete with the signature pink Elvis pin, a Fender Bruce Springsteen silhouetted neck plate engraved with “The Boss,” and the original Fender tweed hard case.
The custom-wound pickups have been specially built to match the output and tonal characteristics of Springsteen’s own guitar, measuring 8.107kΩ in the neck position and a powerful 15.65kΩ at the bridge. The body is made of Japanese Ash (called Sen), and maple neck. The 21 vintage fret neck is straight with no fret wear.
Weighing a comfortable 7.4 lbs (3.3 kg), this Esquire / Telecaster delivers the unmistakable look, feel, and attitude of one of the most celebrated guitars in rock history.
